The chip performs a real-time three-by-three pixel filter on the video image data stream delivered by a pixelCAM (PCS2122) camera head. The chip supports a 16MHz pixel rate and 10 bits per pixel. Furthermore it permits a trade-off between resolution and frame rate via reduction of the output window size and/or subsampling. The filter supports all possible video modes of the PCS2112 automatically. The 8-bit wide filter coefficients are programmable over a RS232 serial port.
