This is a small test to implement the Zcb extension of RISC-V, a part of Zc the compressed instructions extension for RISC-V. It uses and Ibex core and evaluate its impact on code size, chip area and timing of a tape-out in the TSMC65 technology.
We show a possible reduction up to 6% in code size for the benchmark suite Embench, while only increasing the chip area by 0.03%
I have absolutely no idea what the name stands for. Capra is probably the Ibex core we use in the chip, and the logo seems to suggest that Appa is from the Avatatar: The Last Airbender.
